Support and information groups
- The Gender Trust
The Gender Trust is a registered charity; their web site carries details of the regional support organisation and affiliated groups around the UK and across the world. - Mermaids
Most grown-up transsexual people were juvenile transsexual people once … although it’s important to realise that the reverse isn’t necessarily true; not every child who displays a gender identity problem will grow up to desire gender reassignment. Mermaids is a support group formed by and for the parents who have such children and who, whatever the eventual outcome may be, want to know how to support those young people. - The FTM Network
The FTM Network is an informal and Ad Hoc self help group, open to all female to male transgender and transsexual people, or those exploring this aspect of their gender. Currently there are over 700 members of the network in the UK. - Depend is a voluntary organisation whose aim is to provide support, advice and information for anyone who knows, or is related to, a transsexual person.
- The Gendys Network
GENDYS is a UK-based network for all transgendered people, their families, and care professionals. To this end, the network produces a quarterly journal, and holds biennial conferences in Manchester. - Gender Identity Research and Education Society (GIRES)

- IFGE - International Foundation for Gender Education
General umbrella site for all trans and transgendered people, useful info and links - little bit graphic-intensive but within acceptable levels. - The Intersex Society of North America
An excellent resource with a mass of info and links to related resources. - The Renaissance Transgender Association
Formerly the AEGIS Information Centre - Transsexualism FAQ
“The Transsexual Person in Your Life: Responses to some frequently asked questions/frequently held concerns”. Geared towards families and friends, this is actually better than the title would suggest.
