The Press For Change website has grown over the last few years to carry more than 400 articles, news reports, and documents on the issues affecting trans people and their rights (and that’s before we count the thousands of articles in the on-line archives of the News and Forum mailing lists). In that time, we’ve built a small collection of resources into one of the biggest sets of on-line documentation published by any campaigning organisation, anywhere.
Publishing this information is an important part of the campaign, serving not just as a resource for campaigners but as an educational tool for others …for journalists, academics, researchers, medical people, policy makers … and for anyone else who wants to inform themselves about the discrimination, obstacles, and prejudice faced by by trans people all over the world.
Most of these texts are serious, and often weighty: outlining campaign strategies and objectives, recording news coverage, providing texts of legal judgements, with analysis and commentary on the issues and events. Sometimes, though, it’s good to have a break from the serious stuff … and to laugh at the absurdities and wickedness of the obstacles which governments, medics and bureaucrats place in the way of people who have who have existed throughout human history … but whom western societies find it so hard to accommodate.
